I would like to run a play by mail game based on 5th Fleet that was sent by Star Mech/Concorde to map the External's system boundaries.
This campaign will be based off the SMS CC1000 Wyatt James. This ship is a cruiser built with the Warships template that was created by users of this site.
There are some deviations/Assumptions that were not put into the Externals war 2502-2504 campaign that is documented here in the star-drive section.

A bunch of new technologies have been discovered and/or backward engineered. This ship is a one of a kind with new technologies that aren't in any of the new ships yet. This ship was produced in the Star Mech Empire's shipyards.
FTL has improved to PL8 which allows for 11 hour Jumps for anything under 20 LY's. Any jump above 20 Ly's takes 1 week. Any jump still takes 121 hours to recharge.
Sublight Engineering - PL 8 for Cruiser and lower shipping. Also applies to missile technology. They are also limited to Gravitic Redirectors. Inertial Flux Engines are limited to League of Nine shipping smaller than destroyer sized vehicles.
Hull Technology - PL8 Symbiotic Hulls - Backengineered from Various External Technology. Nanofluidic Shielding available on Cruiser and smaller hulls. All other technologies are PL7.
Power Systems - PL8 For Mass Reactors across all engine sizes. Quantum Cell technology is still restricted to External Fleets. Matter Conversion not available to anyone yet. Research into Matter Conversion is being researched by Thuldans.
Computer Technology is at PL8 when used with Star Mech/Mechalous Technology. All other Nations including Externals are restricted to PL 7. Star Mech/Mechalous have access to Fully Functional AI technology which is added to all Hulls types and Heavy Automation is added to All Star Mech hulls, Each hull has 50% to 75% Automation with larger hulls having 50% max automation.
Sensor Technology is PL7 with the exception of Star Mec/Mechalous. They have access to PL8 technology. However all PL8 technology must be controlled by a computer core of Amazing. Multiphase radar and Madar must be computer controlled. CE Passive array is allowed to all nations but must have an Amazing Computer core in order to process all information. Omnisceince sphere technology is restricted to Stoneburner Creations.
Communication technology - PL8 with regard to Star Mech/Mechalous/Void Corp/Insight. Fraal ships only are allowed Psionic Transcievers. Ansible Technology is restriced to stoneburner creations. Mass Technology is on Concord, Star Mech and External Shipping. Starmech/Concord ships created after 2503 and External's since 2483.
Miscellanious Technology - PL 8 technology is not available with the Exception of Nanomanufacturing Repair being available to Star Mech/Mechalous shipping of Frigate size and smaller.
Beam Weapon Technology - All PL7 Technology available to all Empires PL8 - All Maser weapons - Nariac/A-O/Concorde/Void Corp/Insight Strong Force Gun - Thuldan Empire - Battleship and larger only hulls Weak force guns - Thuldan Empire/ Insight / Concorde - Destroyer and Larger hulls
PL9 Blacklaser - All externals / Star Mech / Concorde only on hulls built after 2503.
Projectile Weapons - All Empires and Externals at PL 7 / AO Empire can use PL8 Sliver and Nuetronium guns on military hulls of frigate or higher.
Missiles- All Empires at PL7 Except Concorde and Star Mech can use PL8 Missile Bodies and Engines, and Star mech able to use PL 8 guidence systems - All Empires using PL7 Warheads
Defense - All Empires PL7 - Star Mech at PL8 with Ablative Shielding as of 2504 Concord 2505 Externals 2502 Fortress Ships 2503 Cruiser and higher hulls. Cloaking Unit. All ships
Misc - Only Starmech Cruiser and higher has Nanomanufacturing.
This will be the ship the characters are stationed on.
They are part of the Star Mech/Concordian 5th Fleet that is charged with finding the External's borders .. The Wyatt James is a ship designed for operating ahead of the fleet.
The Wyatt James when working in non automated modes has a total complement of 400 men and 34 officers and she usually has a complement of 50 marines 44 men 6 officers.
In her role of operating outside the fleet at the moment she is running in a heavily automated state with her AI taking command of most the maintenance robots.
Her AI's Name is Shelly and I will be posting her AI stats as soon as possible. Also She has 5 Refills of reactor fuel onboard. Currently due to the refuelling needs, she has 120 crew and 24 officers, 50 marines: 44 men 6 officers.
Positions needed for PC's (All mechaleus get a -1 bonus to all rolls when hooked to the ship via their computer links
Captain - Would like this character to be a Star Mech Mechaleus. Given the Captains ability to meld with the ship with their computer links. It would give the Wyatt James a +1 to all action checks.
Executive Officer - Can be any race
Pilot- Can be any race. This slot would recommend Vehicles - Space Vehicle for piloting and Navigation - system navigation and DriveSpace Navigation skills
Navigator- can be any race. Navigation - System Navigation and Drivespace Navigation primary and Vehicle Space vehicles secondary for back up piloting
Science Officer/Sensor Officer - Physical science with System Operations Sensors/Communications would be good. Also good would be Knowledge- Computer Operation
Communication Officer - System Operation - Sensors/Communications would be good. This officer runs all the jamming equipment and all communications.
Weapons officer- System operation Defense - Sensors and Weapons would be very good. This officer runs all the weapons teams on board the Wyatt James.
Security Officer - This officer would be a combat oriented toon. Combat specialists would excell in this field as this officer is in charge of all physical ship security as well as leading away teams
